Parishes of Bermuda
Bermuda is divided into 9 parishes (districts):
A major source of confusion for many visitors (and locals) is that the capital Hamilton is in Pembroke Parish, and not Hamilton Parish as one would expect.
Bermuda’s other major settlement, the Town of St George, lies (somewhat less confusingly) within the boundaries of St George’s Parish.
The parishes are named after shareholders of the company that colonised Bermuda in the early 17th century.
