Grotto Bay Beach Resort
Grotto Bay Beach Resort appeals to those wanting a Bermuda resort vacation without the expense associated with some of the other hotels in this category. The hotel is set in 21 acres of landscaped gardens looking out onto Ferry Reach, a deep-water cove on Castle Harbour.
The hotel has 201 rooms located in 11 low-rise lodges spread throughout the grounds. All rooms, regardless of type, have a private balcony or patio with panoramic view of Castle Harbour, air conditioning, telephone, radio, cable TV, safe, coffeemaker, refrigerator, iron, ironing board and hair dryer. The resort offers both room-only and all-inclusive rates.
Grotto Bay Beach Resort has 4 Plexipave tennis courts, a fully-stocked tennis shop and resident professional available for group or individual lessons. 2 of the courts are lit so guests can enjoy tennis after sunset. Blue Hole Water Sports operates from the hotel’s dock and offers boat, kayak and windsurfing rentals while Triangle Diving offers dives to suit all levels of experience. The hotel has a heated freshwater pool with swim-up bar, Jacuzzi, private beaches and a gym.
Guests can choose from several dining options. The Palm Court offers casual dining in a relaxed tropical atmosphere. The Hibiscus room is more formal and its menu, which changes daily, offers traditional European cuisine with a Bermudian flavour. Outdoors, the Bayside Bar & Grill serves hamburgers, salads and sandwiches. During the summer months the Bayside hosts a BBQ on Mondays and seafood buffet on Thursdays.
A unique feature of the hotel is 2 caves located in the grounds, thus giving the hotel its name. Guests can take a plunge in the cool, underground waters of Cathedral Cave or marvel at the stalactites in Prospero’s Cave.
Grotto Bay Beach Resort welcomes kids and operates a children’s program throughout the summer. The hotel also has a playground and video games room.
There is a bus stop at the hotel’s entrance and the historic town of St George is just a short ride away. The Swizzle Inn and the Crystal Caves are within walking distance.
Grotto Bay is in Hamilton Parish. Watch videos of nearby attractions in the player below:

I have such wonderful memories, especially of the beach (unbelievably calm and clear waters - perfect for children), pool, and caves. We even rented a (circa) 16ft power boat and had a blast skimming across the bay.
It rained one day and my sister and I sat inside either in the lobby or in one of the dining areas (along with a bunch of other kids who were staying at the hotel) and watched the early 1970s animated version of Charlotte's Web; in retrospect, I think it was the very first time I had ever seen it.
My father and cousin (then 38 and 20, respectively) rented scooters and took my sister and me all over the island.
Of all the vacations I ever took as a boy (and there were many, on the average of one or two per year), our stay at this wonderful little hotel remains firmly entrenched in my mind as the best one ever.
I’m very glad and relieved to see from the pictures that they’ve kept the place up nicely, unlike a lot of other hotels on other islands (Nassau and Paradise Island immediately come to mind).
My wife of sixteen years and I [and our six (?!) children] have never really taken a legitimate "vacation" due to the nature of our businesses (and the fact that we live in San Diego, which isn’t exactly a bad place to call home), but I've made a promise to myself that when we finally do, I’m going to saddle the clan up and return here.
The two restaurants have great food and selections. The all inclusive is worth every penny. When at the pool bar ask for Duane, he will make a great drink for you if you just can't think of what to have. We will be back !!!!!!
